Supporting Pandemic Control Trakindo Donates 9,000 Antigen Test Kits

JAKARTA, 4 March 2021 - Breaking the chain of virus transmission is one major strategy in pandemic control. Mass testing plays an important role in identifying people who are infected with the virus and potentially infect others. PT Trakindo Utama (Trakindo) in collaboration with Gerakan Indonesia Kita (GITA), took part in pandemic control by donating more than 9,000 antigen test kits to support the Solidarity Movement for One Million Antigen Tests for Indonesia.

Candy Sihombing, Corporate Communication & CSR Manager of Trakindo, explained that the compassionate relief program is a form of the company's ongoing commitment to fight COVID-19 together. "We want to continue to contribute to efforts preventing and handling the pandemic. After previously distributing personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical personnel, this time we focused on the testing phase, namely donating more than 9,000 antigen test kits to Puskesmas in various locations. We hope that we can provide wider opportunities for everyone to be able to test themselves for free, further facilitating the tracing and isolation stages for those who are infected, thus helping to speed up pandemic control," Candy explained.

The distribution of antigen test kits from Trakindo is aimed at the Puskesmas as the first referral health service center for the community to identify COVID-19. In the early stages of the donation, 500 antigen test kits were submitted to the Rawa Buntu Puskesmas, South Tangerang, Banten (26/02/2021). Furthermore, the other 8,500 units of antigen test kits will be distributed by the GITA Association to various regions.

Drg. Hartono Mulyana, Head of Rawa Buntu Puskesmas said, "We appreciate Trakindo and GITA’s effort in providing the antigen test kits for Rawa Buntu Puskesmas. These antigen test kits can help shorten the time for finding positive cases, so we will immediately use them to diagnose COVID- 19 in our environment. We hope that this initiative can be followed by other companies," he explained.

Not only from the company, this antigen test kits assistance initiative is also supported by all Trakindo employees. The "Berbagi Sehat (Health Sharing)” activity was held as a series of events to commemorate Trakindo's 50th anniversary, was participated by employees doing virtual runs, walks, and bikes, then every kilometer achieved was converted into donations.

Trakindo as a company that always prioritizes Occupational Health and Safety is committed to contributing to humanitarian assistance. To support the response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the community, Trakindo has handed over more than 77,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical personnel, as well as implementing educational programs and procuring handwashing facilities with soap for assisted elementary schools in various locations in Indonesia.
