Trakindo Helps Earthquake Recovery in West Sulawesi


On Friday, 15 January 2021 an earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale was centered 6 KM Northeast of Majene, West Sulawesi. PT Trakindo Utama (Trakindo) assists in all post-disaster efforts through the provision of Hydraulic Excavator Cat® 320D and 320GC.

The earthquake happened at 02.027 WITA gave a massive effect in Majene and Mamuju regency in Sulawesi Barat province, resulting in damages of dozens of public facilities such as government offices, hospital, school, worship place, port, shopping complex, including more than 1.100 homes were affected.

Together with the government, and other institutions, after coordinating between Trakindo Makassar Emergency Preparedness and Response Team (TKTD) and Emergency Response Team Tiara Marga Trakindo Group (ERT TMT Group), Trakindo decided to respond to an emergency response period of 14 days from 15-28 January 2021 based on a Decree from the Governor of West Sulawesi.

Two excavator units have been actively operating since January 22, 2021, in several affected locations to assist in the evacuation and cleaning of debris after the earthquake.

This initial assistance is a form of Trakindo's concern for humanity to restore the life of the community after a disaster. Let's hope that all response activities during this emergency period will run smoothly.
